blog:To tip or not to tip

To tip or not to tip

Do you know when to tip and how much to give?

In America, people who serve you except a tip for their service.Their wages are often low-many make only $2.13 an hour-and tips help them earn enough money to make ends meet.In a resturant, tip 15 to 20 percent of the bill before the tax is added. If the service is poor, tip the minimum amount and then talk to the manager.Poor service is not corrected by simply leaving no tip.If service was very good, tip 20 percent or more.In the hotel, tip the bellman$1-$2 per bag for taking your bags to your room.Tip the maid who cleans your room about $2 a night and pay it daily.Clearly mark the money “for housekeeping”or the maid will not touch it.If you order room service, tip the waiter 15 percent of the bill. You shold also tip tax drivers, hairdressers, skycaps and even pizza delivery people. But you donot have to tip everyone who helps you.Ask if you should tip and how much. Then you will do the right thing.

Conversation A:Jack and Laura have just finished eating dinner in a nice restaurant “that was a great meal” “yes ,it was really good”“the bill is $53.50”“how much should we tip?“well,I thought the service was pretty good”“yes, the server was very friendly”“but you did have to ask her for coffee three times”“yes,but..”“let’s just tip 15percent ,let’s see…that’s $8..”“do you have money to tip the girl at the coat check and also the parking valet?”“yes,I always make sure to carry small bills for that sort of thing.”“good for you.”

Conversation B: Jack and Laura are in their hotel room.“Did you tip the bellman?”“Yes I gave him$10 ,that’s $2 for each piece of luggage”“That seems like a lot of money”“I know it seems like you have to tip everyone everywhere these days!”“it sure does”“we have to tip the parking attendant to bring us our car”“and the room service waiter”“and the maid”“it certainly would be cheaper to stay home!”“then we could tip ourselves!”

blog:Get dressed and move

Today I donated 100 yuan to one of my colleagues whose family had hit traffic accident. When I heard the bad news,I got a big shock. Her daughter, only 14-year-old daughter, couldn’t survive.the couple hurt badly, who were still observed in hospital.

They went traveling during Qingming holiday to LuoYang by their own car.At a dark night, her husband had drived the car to hurry back home with tired, the accident happened.Their daughter is my son’s classmater,I know her very well,a pretty and lovely girl with long deep black hair.I fell so pity about her.

I can’t imagine how to face the reality to lost their dagughter as the couple are awake.Their life will be filled with tremendous pain later. As a mother I know to raise a child is not easy, there is no purpose in life without child, days will turn into years….what a terrible loss.

I hope that after long cries, she would be strong and take another breath, get dressed and move forward.

blog:spring outing

Today is Sunday . The weatherman says light rain today. In fact,it’s a sunny day.And the wind is strong. The place we went to is very nice. There are a lot of activities for us to do, like picking strawberries ,going rafting and so on. First,we went to the greenhouse of strawberry .So many strawberries there,we eat much.Although the strawberries are not so big as the ones sold in the market,we ate happily for we picked by ourselves. We were full very soon. Then we went to the labyrinth. At first ,I followed the class, but soon,I went alone .I was nearly unable to find out the intricate windings of the labyrinth.Luckily,I got the right way. The next activity was unsuccessful .The peacock refused to show his fan. All the class are disappointed. Forget it. At last ,we got to the amusement park ,we went rafting. The wind was so strong that we couldn’t go forward and control the direction. So the yacht pulled us back with the worker’s help. We were all tired when we were back. In a word,I enjoyed myself very much. Sleep tight.

blog:first blog

This is my first English blog even I have registered it for long, coz I rarely find anything that is worth putting down, since I’ve started it ,I intend to continue and insist to it.
I went to SOS children village yesterday, which locates a little bit far away from my school. The rainy day made me not so excited as expected.I got up earlier on purpose in case of the dalay of bus. When I reached there, I saw a tour team visiting the village the moment I was waiting for Miss Wu,who works there, warmly received me and introduced me something about the welfare institude. Judging from the accent of the tour members, i thought they may come from taiwan or at least southeastern china.
them, miss wu warmly received me and assigned me about seven or eight children,I became very happy to see that she trusted me. A moment later, we went to the children’s dorm to call them. They are so happy to a such a sister like me that they conducted me to show their dorms actively under the circumustance that we didn’t know each other.children living in this welfare institute are naughty, immature and naive. It seemed that they don’t have the concept that they are orphans.
we went to classroom and began my first english class. Only then did i discover that being a teacher was not as simple as i thought. It is too hard, especially when you faced a gang of six to nine years old children.wow, I came to realise the heavy burden. To be a volunteer is my long-time expectation, so i have to challenge myself even the task is harsh, hahah, harsh!true, for me,it is really harsh to manage those children,
i hope i can strive myself to better the community service.

blog:Love Makes Me Crazy

When i was in the university, i was a silent and shy girl. I thought i was very sane that i would not do anything crazy. But now i know that time i was completely wrong. That means i didn;t know myself well, also maybe because i didn;t taste love at that time. But after my graduation, my mind is changing day by day. I become brave. Especially after i met him, sometimes i do something which is crazy in my mind. The most impressive one is i went to another province myself at night to meet him.
Before, i always joked with my friends that love is so powerful as to make lovers travel hundreds or thousands of miles to meet each other. Now i understand it. Yes, when you miss someone, you are anxious to see him immediately. When you love someone, you are willing to do anything for him. That day i said i want to come for his work, he said ok, firstly i planed to go there next day, but i can not wait, so i decided to go at night. Then i packed my clothes and went to the bus station. When i sit in the bus, i thought i am so crazy and i should stop, but sence overcomed sensibility. After twelve hours’ travel, i reached his place. When he saw me, he was so happy that he gave me a kiss on my cheek. I was also so happy that i am together with him. I stayed there about three days, but during these days, we quarrelled and i weeped much. At last i came back myself at night. On the way, i was thinking why i am so crazy.
Oh, he is so cruel to me, but what of him i love? I always asked myself about this, but i can not give an exact answer to myself. Love is strange. Love makes me crazy.

blog:words get in the way

words get in the way
Finally, I have to say, wanted to say something, but don’t know from which.
since made a monstrous decision that l introduce yourself to a friend.
Intent is hope you can happy, if you can , i willing to do everything for you, but leave you does not seem as easily as expect, looking at my expected results appear in my own eyes, step by step, and cannot explain myself is successful, for i don’t know what i am doing. Do to friends fair? I do not even know, but I have to try to make myself to what i said, to a friend’s commitment to export, although forever, must remember not to meet them, from that moment, I and she must always drawn, This is the result of my hope to see? Ha ha, very puzzling, since the decision is chosen, i must persevere, wish you happiness.

China Eastern Air Holding Company has signed an agreement for a joint venture to be invested in by China Eastern Airlines Corporation and the Yunnan State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the Yunnan provincial government.

In cooperation with the government, the joint venture, formerly China Eastern’s Yunnan Branch, will gain advantages in policy support, airport cooperation, project construction, and the ability to resist risks. The joint venture will be a regional hub and a network-based airline company.

In late May, China Eastern’s Yunnan Branch took delivery of a new Boeing 737-700 and the company’s fleet now has 37 aircraft. By 2010, the company will have 50 aircraft, the annual passenger traffic will increase from 6 million to 8 million, and interline and transit flights will be increased by 500.

blog:Words of wisdom from 10 power players

    By Patricia Sellers

It was a power-packed Sunday. Usain Bolt beat his own world record. Y.E. Yang came out of obscurity to trounce Tiger Woods in the PGA Championship. Don Draper returned, tortured as ever. So many juicy Power Points–our quotes of the day–to choose from. So why not kick off a slow summer week with a whole bunch of ‘em, from sports to business to politics… — Patricia Sellers and Jessica Shambora

“You never know in life, this might be my last win as a golfer.” — Y.E. Yang, after beating Tiger Woods. This was the first time ever that Woods had the lead going into the final round of a major, and lost. Yang, from South Korea, seemed humble, relaxed, even zen-like throughout the nail-biting final holes. Yang said afterwards: “Tiger’s good, but he could always have a bad day. Guess this is one of those days.”

“For me, it was all about going and winning, because I knew these guys were ready.” — Usain Bolt, Jamaican track star, after setting a new 100-meter sprint record of 9.58 seconds at the World Track and Field championships yesterday. Instead of aiming to break his own world record, Bolt says he went into the race focused on beating his rivals. Maybe a good business lesson there.

“I keep going different places, and always winding up where I’ve already been.” — Mad Men’s Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm, on last night’s premiere of the riveting AMC show’s third season. (Yes, we love it.) The anti-Usain Bolt, the iconic ’60s ad man is haunted by his past and can’t move past it.

“What you carry on your belt is now your MP3 player, will be your plasma TV, is your social-networking machine, is your Internet terminal, your camera, your personal navigation device.” — Research in Motion (RIMM) co-CEO Jim Balsillie, from Jessi Hempel’s cover story in the current issue of Fortune . RIM is No. 1 on Fortune’s just-released list of 100 Fastest-Growing Companies.

“I’ve been putting sand in my salad; I eat sand.” — Shaquille O’Neal, about taking on Olympic beach volleyball Gold medalists Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh in “Shaq Vs.,” his new primetime reality show in which he tries to beat the world’s greatest athletes at their own games. Shaq, who identifies himself as “Very Quotatious” on his Twitter page, told the New York Times, “I want to thank both these beautiful ladies for accepting this challenge. I hope they don’t mess up their nails too much.” The show premieres tomorrow night on ABC (DIS).

“I encourage you to love your animals — whatever animals you have, whether it’s a dog, a cat, a reptile, if it’s a horse. I encourage you to love that animal dearly and with all your heart.” — Michael Vick, ex-con and Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback, struggling to make amends for his involvement in running a dog-fighting operation. (Love your reptiles? Paging the PR police!!)

“We are just a small little company that has gone through some challenging times that is trying to find a way to come up with ideas that will connect with an audience.”– Tim Armstrong, the new CEO of AOL, on his efforts to revitalize the struggling web pioneer as it prepares to split from parent TimeWarner (TWX).

“It has become pretty clear that advertising alone is not going to sustain on-line business models. Quality journalism has to be paid for.” — John Ridding, CEO of The Financial Times, in the New York Times, on the paper’s 2001 decision to charge readers for access to its website. Now that other publishers are looking to do the same, Ridding is enjoying the company. “It was pretty lonely out there for while in paid land.”

“Specter got it all wrong that I ever used words ‘death boards.’ Even liberal press never accused me of that. So change ur last Tweet Arlen.” — Chuck Grassley, Republican Senator of Iowa, to Democratic Senator Arlen Specter on Twitter. The two were feuding about health-care reform, specifically end-of-life care.

“One of my colleagues locks the door at the meeting start. Trust me, no one ever arrives late a second time.” — Mattel (MAT) CEO Bob Eckert, in “The Best Advice I Ever Got” in the new issue of Fortune.
